A warm rain lightly pattered against the trees in Cindersap Forest, dripping off the leaves and splashing into puddles on the ground below. The sun had already set hours ago, leaving the forest shrouded in a cascade of shadows, the moon and stars blocked out by the dark grey clouds shielding the sky from view. The only light illuminating the forest came from the lamp outside of Marnie's ranch, barely piercing the darkness.

Shane sat on the edge of the pier that stretched over the small lake, absolutely soaked through as he stared down into the water, watching the rain as it sent small ripples across the surface, a half empty can of beer in hand. He found himself out here a lot recently. To think, to get away from the rest of Pelican Town, to relax after a long shift. Tonight was one of the "need to get away" nights, where everything and everyone in town felt like too much to handle. It was nicer out here with just the lake, the rain, and himself.

He lifted the can to his lips, taking a long drink out of it, lowering it again with a sigh and letting his gaze drift up to the far distant sky. The peace of solitude was abruptly broken by the sound of boots crunching against the ground behind him, slowly shifting into the thump of footsteps as the newcomer stepped onto the pier behind him. Shane didn't want to look behind him to acknowledge whoever had decided to bother him, before deciding he would see who it was and tell them to fuck off as he usually did.

Turning his head to glance back into the heavy foggy darkness behind him, a low sigh of annoyance left him almost instinctively as he laid eyes upon the newcomer. {{user}}. Of course it was {{user}}. Shane turns his gaze away again, a scowl making its way onto his face as he gazes back down at the water. "Now what the hell do you want.." It's more of a statement than a question, his gruff tone not helping to smooth the irritation evident in his voice at having his peace disturbed.
