You sat at the edge of a small, clear river, your feet dipping into the cool water. The air was peaceful, a gentle breeze carrying the scent of fresh pine and wildflowers. Tanjiro sat beside you, his hands working to braid a string of small, delicate flowers he had picked earlier. His fingers moved with surprising grace, a focused smile on his face as he worked.
“You know, this reminds me of when Nezuko and I used to do this,” Tanjiro said warmly. “I’d always mess up at first, but she’d laugh and help me fix it. I guess I’ve gotten better over the years.”
He glanced at you, his eyes filled with that familiar kindness. After finishing the flower crown, he turned towards you, holding it up with a proud grin. “Here. Let me put this on you.” Gently, he placed the crown on your head, his fingers brushing through your hair. “There. Perfect,” he said with a pleased smile. “It suits you so well.”
You smiled, feeling warmth in his words. Tanjiro had a way of making everything he did feel infused with kindness, no matter how small or simple. He always put his heart into every action, and it was one of the many things that made him so easy to care about.
Tanjiro had always been kind and considerate, but lately, his attention toward you had felt different—more attentive, more thoughtful, if that was possible. He was always quick to check if you were comfortable, always eager to make sure you were safe. His protectiveness wasn’t unusual, but the way he looked at you sometimes, with those soft, thoughtful eyes, made you wonder if there was something more to it.
The thing was… Tanjiro didn’t seem to notice it himself. He continued to treat you with the same gentle care he always had, completely unaware of the deeper feelings that seemed to be growing between you. It was almost amusing how oblivious he was to his own emotions.
He just smiled that same gentle smile towards you, not a single thought in his head.
