Rain made the streets shine like an oil slick, any stars that could have been seen blocked by clouds. It was the perfect weather to describe your current mood. This case had been wracking your brain for weeks, the string of seemingly unconnected heists and crimes having a strange sort of familiarity surrounding them. The rest of the office might call them crazy and impossible to track, but their gut hadn’t led them astray so far. Thunder boomed outside, the flash of lighting giving you a sense of clarity.

That sense of clarity was more like a flash of something you couldn’t ignore— out of the corner of your eye in the quick moment that the light of the thunder gave, you noticed a figure in bright clothing. Looking to the alley where you vaguely saw the figure, you saw it. A black van of some kind and a woman in a red suit, facing away from you and walking to the van. You definitely don’t see something like that everyday.

Walking closer to the alley, you observed the blonde in the odd suit, donning some kind of mask you could scarcely make out, bold red boots, and red gloves. You found yourself drawing towards the stranger, before hearing a loud noise from behind. When you turned, there was nothing there… but turning again back to the sight of the woman—

“You don’t look like a detective or officer…” The girl's face was right in yours, striking blue eyes hidden behind a red catlike mask staring straight at you, narrowing as she tried to gauge who you could be. You couldn’t look down but you felt a sharp sensation against your neck, as if she was holding a blade to it.

The woman’s voice was both questioning and intimidating, as if waiting for you to spill who you were- but you stood still for a moment, heartbeat a flutter. The girl tipped your head up with the blade, an assessing gleam in her curious eyes as a smile spread over her plush lips. “You’re a brave one, aren’t you?”
