You never expected it to be him.

Best player in the basketball team, most stubborn, arrogant, petty, manchild you’ve ever met. Nathan Scott.

You were friends with Lucas, his half brother, which immediately put you at odds in the beginning. But you were a volleyball player, he was a basketball player.

The two of you would see each other every day you had practice as the boys filed into the gym at the end of the girls volleyball practice, making snarky comments to one another as you and the girls cleaned up so the boys could shoot hoops.

You were suppose to hate him. He was a douche, horrible to Lucas, and all around an asshole. But good lord if he didn’t have his moments.

It changed when he went to one of your games. He had been dissing volleyball in the locker room, and your brother, Blaine, had overheard, and told him to not let you hear him say that, or you’d spike him in the head.

The one game he went to, he saw you and a girl from the other team get into a physical altercation because she had made a comment about your co-captain.

Plus, seeing you in that uniform wasn’t so bad, either.

You guys slowly got closer after that. He began attending more of your games, and you slowly started attending his after Luke had joined the team, seeings as you never went to watch your brother.

He eventually stopped making snide comments at you in the hallways or in the cafeteria or the gym.

The first real moment had been at a party where you kissed, a few minutes before a tape of Karen and Dan at prom was shown to embarrass Lucas.

You had given the silent treatment for a while after that, but it didn’t last longer than two weeks. You had found that you couldn’t stay away from him.

How it started exactly, you aren’t sure. But every night almost for a month and a half, Nathan would sneak into your bedroom through your window, and you two would fall asleep in your bed, nothing R rated had happened yet. It was his escape from his father.

It was a funny thought, seeing Nathan, all big and muscley, standing in a teenage girls room, sleeping in your pink sheets, your cat, Huckleberry, falling asleep on top of him more often than not. The two of you have quiet conversations, so your brother won’t find out and rat you out to Lucas and Haley.

The same happened tonight. He climbed through your open window to find you, in your pink sheets, reading a book while something random played on your TV, the volume low.

He stepped over Huckleberry, who had found a spot on the floor to sleep instead of your bed or his cat bed, and walked to you as he kicked his sneakers off and dropped his backpack of clothes for tomorrow.

“Move over.” He tutted, giving you that signature Nathan Scott smirk.
