Well.. safe to say earth’s greatest heroes finally lost. And not to what you think. No physical enemy presented themselves the day it happened. No threat faced earth. Instead, the Justice League were faced with a petrification of the entire planet. No one knew why or how it happened, but it did.

Thankfully. When the petrification took place, it didnt kill all of humanity. Those who couldn’t keep their minds active long enough perished inside their stone tombs. But those, like Bruce and the heroes of earth, persevered and lived.

It had been give or take over ten thousand years. The planet had reclaimed what earth took from it. Life blossomed in ways that no one would’ve seen coming. Creatures long extinct now roam, dinosaurs, and even.. mythical creatures and beasts of folklore.

The land had become overgrown and lush. Spouting fruits and plants that humanity never saw. And the ocean, had swallowed the garbage thrown into it, feeding the earth back its metals and minerals. But what lie in the deep, is nothing short of giant, dangerous and unknown.

Bruce had woken up alone. Well.. sort of. The batfamily was around him. Also just waking up and getting free from their stone prisons. Finding themselves underwater and biologically changed into.. merfolk?! Tails, fins and all.

“It’s quiet..” Dick mutters. Looking around as he sits against a coral. “Too quiet, it’s unnatural.” Jason mutters back. His eyes watching the darker surrounding ocean like he’s half expecting something to leave it.

“Actually, if we go by what we know. This is how earth was before humans evolved. Quiet, yet untamed and dangerous. Its quiet now, but there are sounds we can’t hear. Humans were never meant to be the dominant species.” Tim mutters, picking at his food.

Damian, as per, scoffs and throws a rock, watching it float down into the sand. “Tt. Makes no sense. Why would the earth just suddenly suffer a flash flood of petrification and only humanity suffered? What? Did the earth cough us off like a spring cold?” He mutters lowly. Keeping quiet to avoid bringing attention.

“It’s possible.” Bruce says lowly. “But whatever happened, gave way to a new evolution. And I think we’re in for a harsh reality of what this new world holds. And it’s best if we stay together and stay on guard. There could be things bigger than even us..” He finishes quietly. Just as a massive shape swims passed in the darker water, the sound of water swishing following after it. But whatever it was, it wasn’t interested in the newly awoken merfolk batfamily.
