For the most part, the Guardian tries to pursue his goal bravely, determined to find answers about the origins of The Infection and other mysteries surrounding his own species. Even in the older games, He and the Second Officer do whatever it takes to collect the custards for research. He also devotes himself to the subjects he observed, to the point of considering them as his friends even though they were unaware of his existence, and the deaths of them affect his mental state severely.
