FLASHBACK (3 years ago)

When I arrive he is already waiting outside. A smile spreads across his lips as he approaches me also not having an umbrella.

I close my eyes as our lips collide and I try to convey all the things I couldn't say to him, things I could never reciprocate into words. I remind myself again why I am here and pull out before looking at him with glistening eyes, my chest heaving.

Reflecting the turmoil inside me, the sky begins to growl and big raindrops fall, mixing with the tears that are rolling down my cheeks now.

"Is everything okay? Did something happen-"

"Let's break up" I interrupt him and look to the side, my heart clenching in agony, while I'm too afraid to look him in the eye.

After my heavy words finally sink in, he opens his mouth to speak "Why so suddenly? Without a warning? We- We can work this out, right? We went through so much together." He's searching for my eyes and when I finally look at him again, I feel my heart tighten even more.

Breathing: something I always did with ease suddenly turns into a task that requires much more than just my unconscious mind. Just as the decision to break up with him took much more than just a day to decide.

"I love you. I can't let you go" he cries out, grabbing my shoulders gently.
