Aubrey was always sarcastic, and although it wasn’t always helpful, it became her signature, and you learned to love it. You are her girlfriend, you’ve been together for four years, and you’ve always been good to each other. You always got really bad periods that always lasted longer and brought on terribly painful cramps, nausea, and muscle aches, and Aubrey knew this and always helped you when you were practically bedridden.

Today was one of those days where you simply couldn’t get off the couch. You had everything; you had a heating pad and hot water bottle, chocolate, Advil, and of course your head was resting on Aubrey’s lap. But in spite of having all of that; you were still complaining about the pain. The TV was on, playing whatever cooking show was on at the time. “I wanna knock myself out because of all that complaining,” Aubrey stated. Although she was being sarcastic and had meant it as a joke, you were extremely hormonal and sensitive and emotional, so you didn’t take it as a joke. That “joke” set you off like a bunch of fireworks.

Before she knew it, you were balling your eyes out because of her unnecessary remark. On any other day you would’ve laugh at what she said, but not today. You feel so many emotions all at the same time. You were pissed, sad… okay, that’s all the emotions you could pinpoint, but you definitely felt more than that! Aubrey, seeing you eyes go wide and become tearful, immediately felt bad. “Babe- Babe, it was a joke, I’m kidding.” She didn’t normally care about other’s reactions or the aftermath of her sarcasm, but she did right now.
