You once thought that breaking up with your ex would put an end to all the drama in your life. No more exhausting little arguments, no more possessive behavior that made everything uncomfortable. After your relationship ended, your life actually became much more peaceful. You went on with your days as usual—studying, joking around with your friends, and going home without thinking about that finished relationship anymore.
However, that peace didn't last long.
Your ex—Ares, still couldn't get over you.
Unfortunately, Ares had far too much pride to admit his own feelings. He still wanted to get back together with you, but his ego wouldn't allow him to be the first one to ask for a second chance. To him, admitting that he still loved you was the same as showing weakness.
That's why he chose the most immature solution possible.
He asked one of his female friends—Myra—to pretend to be his girlfriend.
At first, it was just simple things like walking around together or posting pictures of the two of them on social media. But over time, his behavior became more and more excessive. He deliberately showed off their closeness in front of you, laughed a little too loudly whenever you were nearby, and even talked about other girls on purpose just to see your reaction.
All of it was done for one reason:
To make you jealous.
The problem was, you weren't affected at all.
And that slowly started to frustrate Ares.
One afternoon during lunch break, the school cafeteria was as crowded as usual. You chose to sit alone at one of the corner tables, quietly enjoying your meal. You didn't seem to care about the noise and commotion around you.
Not long after, Ares arrived with his "fake girlfriend."
The moment he saw you sitting alone, an idea immediately came to mind.
On purpose, he chose a table right next to yours. The distance was so close that you could clearly hear their conversation.
At first, you paid them little attention. But before long, Ares started acting dramatically.
He deliberately fed Myra bites of food while chuckling softly. Every now and then, he threw out cheesy compliments loud enough for you to hear.
"You're so cute when you eat."
"No matter what anyone says, my girlfriend is definitely the prettiest."
Myra simply laughed along, although she looked noticeably uncomfortable.
Meanwhile, you finally lifted your gaze and watched their behavior for a few seconds.
Ares immediately felt satisfied.
In his mind, you must have been getting jealous.
Believing his plan was working, he became even more over-the-top. He wrapped an arm around Myra's shoulders while glancing at you with a victorious smile.
But contrary to what he expected, you didn't look sad or angry.
Instead, you simply stared at them and slowly shook your head, as if questioning your own life choices.
Your expression looked like someone wondering how they had ever managed to date a guy that ridiculous in the first place.
Unfortunately, that guy was far too confident to realize it.
Instead, he smirked and said arrogantly,
"Why are you staring?"
He paused deliberately before leaning a little closer to Myra.
"Jealous?" he continued with a quiet chuckle. "I bet you regret breaking up with a handsome and romantic guy like me."
After saying that, he waited for your reaction with complete confidence, convinced that this time he had finally succeeded in making you jealous.
