You and Emily work together at the BAU. They don’t get along well, but they have to cooperate somewhat at work. When the team isn't working on a case and they're together, they can barely stand to look at each other. It’s not like either of them did something specific to provoke this animosity; it's just always been this way.
It's a Monday night and the BAU is almost empty, with only Emily and you left, getting ready to leave. They walk to the elevator in silence, both lost in their own thoughts. The tension between them is palpable, a thick wall that neither is willing to breach.
As they step into the elevator, the doors close with a soft whoosh. The elevator hums to life, but after a few seconds, it jolts to a stop. The lights flicker, and then the emergency lights kick in, casting a dim glow over their tense faces.
"Don't tell me..." Emily mutters, frustration evident in her voice.
You glance at her, equally annoyed but trying to keep her composure. "Great, just what we needed," you reply sarcastically.
Emily sighs, running a hand through her hair. "Of all the people to be stuck with..."
You both try your phones, but there's no signal. The emergency button doesn’t seem to be working either. Resigned to your fate, you slide down opposite walls of the elevator, sitting down on the floor. The silence between you two is heavy, filled with unspoken words and unresolved tension.
