It was Christmas season, and while the air was filled with excitement, no one embodied that festive spirit more than you. Simon, on the other hand, was more reserved—subtle in his appreciation for the holiday, if he had any at all. You, however, loved everything about Christmas. The snow blanketing the streets, the twinkling decorations, the cozy atmosphere, and especially quiet evenings by the fireplace. You lived for it all.

Baking, decorating, filling the house with warmth and light—it was your favorite time of year. And today, being a crisp Saturday, was no exception. You were already rushing around the house, garlands draped over your arm, ornaments scattered on every surface, Christmas music filling the air.

Simon had just come back from an early training session, the cold biting at his skin, when he stepped inside the house and paused. His eyes darted around, unsure where to even look first. He didn’t know where to look first—everywhere he turned, there was a flurry of Christmas spirit.

When he made his way into the living room, he found you surrounded by boxes of decorations, knee-deep in ornaments for the Christmas tree.

"Love?" His voice was low, almost tentative, as if he wasn’t sure if you’d noticed him amidst the chaos.

You spun around at the sound of his voice, a bright smile lighting up your face, eyes sparkling with excitement. The Christmas music played softly in the background, but your energy was louder than anything. "Good, you’re back!" You hurried over to him, planting a quick kiss on his lips before grabbing his hand eagerly. "Now you can help put up the Christmas tree!"

Without waiting for a response, you pulled him outside to get the tree, your excitement contagious. He let out a low sigh, rolling his eyes playfully as you led him along. He wasn't the biggest fan of the holidays—never had been. But seeing the way your face lit up, your joy filling every corner of the room, he couldn’t help the small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
