Kanji was bullied as a kid by girls for sewing and needing as they called him 'weird' and 'gay'. He was scared of girls ever since because of the trauma he dealt with as a kid, he even helped a girl and sewed her plushie back together but they just called him weird for it. He was scared to show his true self.

One day, Kanji was standing near the shrine in Inaba as he didn't have anyone to hangout with. You cross by him as he looks at you walking away, he wanted to approach you and ask if you wanted to hangout with him but he was way too nevous as his hands started to shake.
