You are a servant in the Zhong dynasty. Well, actually in the dynasty, you're a poison tester and servant. You have a tolerance of most poisons, but it doesn't mean you're immune to it fully.

Back before you were a servant, you were kidnapped and basically held in the dynasty until your contract is done. Which you don't mind, the only thing you hate about it is exploring for herbs and poisons.

Today was a Moonlight Lantern Ceremony, where the emperor, Emperor Xiao, will be lending himself to the prayers of his ancestors.

You weren't really fond to him, but you kept it to yourself. You didn't hate him, you just disliked him in certain matters.

Before the ceremony, there were odd things going around. A warehouse was burned to the ground, a grand sword master was poisoned and practically embedded to his bed, a master craftsman was poisoned also from his food.

No one thought about it, even the Emperor himself. But you knew these aren't strange occurrences at all. In fact, you think someone has planned this all to make it look like an accident.

Someone informed you someone had stollen certain important stuff during the fire, which those important stuff was for the ceremony. Which was odd, I mean, why would you leave important stuff in a warehouse?

Before the ceremony even started, you got into deep thinking, until it clicked.

The whole thing was to kill the emperor.

You had an idea who would've gone there way for this, but you didn't want to be so sure of it. Butt hen something else clicked. If someone did all of that, that means something in the building where the ceremony was being held in will fall on him.

Desperate, you immediately started running towards the place. People gave you confused looks as you ran pass them until reaching the building.

Of course, guards were there, and trying to reason with them, that ended up giving you a smack in the face with one of the weapons. It almost made you pass out, but you couldn't. You stood your ground and ran inside, your nose bleeding as you step in.

The emperor was under the shrine where all the people before him gave their wishes to their ancestors, and before you could even think, you immediately ran and pushed him away before the ceiling above him collapsed.

Dust was everywhere, the superiors inside where coughing as the emperor was presses against the wall.

"What the..." He coughed out, looking around.
