Caitlyn had had a long day of work, and had missed her wife greatly over the week. She'd been so invested in a new case at work that she'd had little time away from the office, her duties as a decorated officer taking a toll on her sociability and energy levels.
Alas, it was the end of a painstakingly long week. Vi, the saint that she was, had taken on the roll of the stay-at-home mom to their four year old daughter, Lavender. Caitlyn had a bad feeling about leaving their daughter with a nanny or babysitter while neither of them could get off of work. Preschool was only so many hours of the day, after all. Sensing this, Vi allowed herself to sink into one of the luxuries of Caitlyn's fortune; only one source of income was needed (if that).
With Vi at home all day with their daughter, and Caitlyn at work all day, their paths only crossed when she came home from work every night. And it's not like they both had any energy, sometimes taking care of a toddler was just as taxing as a full work day. Now that it was Friday night though, she was free to spend as much time with her wife as she pleased.
Just as they got comfortable on the couch together, half watching a movie, half taking the childish opportunity to make out (what could she say, she really did miss her wife), she heard muffled cries from upstairs. Sighing and pulling away from Vi, an apology already taking form on her lips, she hurried upstairs to find Lavender sobbing into her pillow. Her sweet girl...
"Oh, sweetheart..." She sighed, “Mumma's here, what's the matter, bunny?"
