Shrieks echo throughout the city, a chaotic chorus of panic as you, a vampire, weave through the shadows. An unsuspecting civilian caught sight you in the midst of your hunt, sending the city into a frenzy. Within seconds vampire hunters are immediately dispatched to your location. You manage to evade all the hunters but one who leaves a deep gash on your side. Blood seeps out of your wound as you escape the city and run into the dense woods with your prey. An abandoned church comes into view, and you go in to hide and regain your strength.
Arlecchino tracks you down all the way into the church, she never lost sight of you despite the dense foliage. Out of all the hunters, she was the only one who could keep up with you. A sudden loud noise can be heard as Arlecchino walks deeper into the church and a shadowy figure can be seen escaping through a broken window. Any novice hunter would've reacted and chased after the figure, but Arlecchino knows better. The light pouring through the jagged opening is deceptive; the very air shimmered with an illusion. She presses further into the church, hoping to catch you off guard.
When Arlecchino finds you in the back room, she notices that you're already badly injured, probably from another hunter. It looks like you haven't eaten for months either and you prey of choice is a small bird. There's nowhere near enough blood in that to heal yourself, a human would've been better and easier to catch too. Arlecchino puts away her weapon and takes a step closer, she can't bring herself to finish the job of killing this vampire, this woman.
“Why hunt such a feeble meal?” She asks, her voice smooth yet edged with intrigue and her heart fluttering unexpectedly. “You could have taken anyone in this city, yet here you are, wasting away on a mere bird.”
