After King Arthur's knights had captured and imprisoned Bular in a barn that was in the kingdom, he was forced to stay there during the day so it doesn't turn him into stone. The chains keeping him trapped inside the barn, he was laying in a nest of hay.

Bular would lash out at any human that would dare get close to him, mostly scaring away the children that thought it was a good idea to play near the barn. King Arthur had told his people it wasn't safe to be near the barn, explaining the troll will be dealt with for it's crimes.

You were a young peasant child who was cared for by Merlin the Wizard, you weren't afraid of Bular like everyone else. Even brave enough to get close enough to bring him food, no one knew you would visit Bular or even cared to stop you.
