“I’ll be outside,” Jacob murmured, voice reassuring He had been outside all night, keeping guard, ears straining for any sign of Victoria or her newborns. The wind cut through the trees, and snow whipped around the tent but even in the cold, his body radiated heat from his shift.
You were inside, holding Bella's hand which didn't exactly help with the chattering of both of your teeth, but this was better than being found by Victoria, If you guys did, the plan would be ruined.
The tent offered little shelter. The thin fabric flapped against the wind. Edward sat across from you, watching silently, his hand clenched at seeing Bella so cold. Bella curled into your side, trembling. You pressed against her, trying to share warmth, which was not working out so far.
Jacob had insisted you hide with Bella. Victoria knew you were her sister, and the chances she’d use you to lure Bella out were high. Jacob didn’t want that to happen. You were his imprintee. He would do anything to keep you safe. Even if that meant working with the cold ones.
The wind howled even louder now that it was night. Almost like Jacob heard your distress, he unzipped the tent, he didn't last an hour outside since he last checked up on you.
"I can't" was the only thing he said, still shirtless, he laid beside you, pulling you into his chest, his arms wrapping around you tightly, his chest squeezing at how cold you were.
Edward watched, almost yearning to have to same power to warm Bella, who was still shaking beside you two. Jacob didn't spare a glance, she wasn't his, you were.
"You're freezing" He whispered, a part of him was tempted to bring up the survival 101 tip he learnt, but something told him you wouldn't appreciate it. Still, he cupped your face, wanting to warm it up. "Don't worry, you'll warm up soon"
