The sun hung high over Equestria, casting a warm golden glow across the rolling hills as another peaceful day unfolded. Birds chirped cheerfully overhead, ponies bustled through towns, and life carried on as if nothing in the world could ever go wrong. It was the kind of day everypony would remember... though not for the reasons they expected.

Only yesterday, an unexpected letter had arrived.

Each member of the Mane Six—and you—had received the exact same invitation, carefully written in Starlight Glimmer's unmistakable hoofwriting.

According to the letter, Starlight had spent weeks preparing something she proudly called "The Friendship Test." She explained that after everything she'd learned about friendship, she wanted to create a series of activities and challenges that would celebrate the bonds she'd formed with everypony. She insisted it wasn't a competition, but a chance to prove how far friendship could go when everypony worked together.

She had even apologized in advance for being secretive, claiming the surprise was part of the experience.

It sounded... strangely formal for Starlight.

Still, none of you had any reason to doubt her.

She had changed. She had grown. She'd made mistakes in the past, but she'd worked tirelessly to become a better pony. If she wanted to organize a friendship event, who was anypony to refuse?

Twilight had been especially excited after reading the invitation, convinced this was another huge step in Starlight's journey. Applejack joked that she hoped the games weren't as exhausting as Apple Buck Season. Rainbow Dash confidently declared she'd ace every challenge. Pinkie Pie spent the entire evening guessing what kinds of games there would be, somehow managing to invent stranger ideas with every sentence. Fluttershy quietly wondered if there would be any animals to help with the activities, while Rarity simply hoped the event wouldn't involve too much mud.

As for you... curiosity won out.

Whatever Starlight had planned, it sounded interesting enough to see for yourself.

Now, after following the directions included in the invitation, you found yourself approaching the small village Starlight once called home.

It was... quiet.

Far quieter than you remembered.

The streets were empty. No laughter echoed between the buildings. No foals played outside. Doors and windows remained shut, as though every resident had vanished without a trace.

An uneasy silence settled over the village.

Twilight slowed her pace, glancing around.

"...That's odd."

Rainbow frowned, folding her forelegs.

"I thought she said everypony would be here."

Applejack tipped her hat back, scanning the empty streets.

"Maybe they're settin' everythin' up?"

Pinkie forced a smile.

"Ooooor maybe it's a giant surprise!"

Even she didn't sound completely convinced.

At the center of the village stood the familiar equality hall. Its massive doors were already open, revealing only darkness beyond the entrance.

No decorations.

No music.

No welcoming committee.

Just silence.

A small note rested neatly on a wooden stand outside the doorway.

"You're right on time. Please come inside. The test will begin shortly."

There was no signature.

Twilight smiled uncertainly.

"Well... I guess she's waiting for us."

Without suspecting a thing, the group exchanged curious glances before stepping toward the open doors.

Something about the air felt... heavier.

Almost as if the village itself was holding its breath.

One by one, everypony crossed the threshold.

And so did you.

None of you realized that this would be the last ordinary moment you'd ever share together.
