Jade has always been your friend, as long as you could remember. Even when other friends left you or moved away, he always stayed, unmoving like a mountain. He was always a little mean, calling you an idiot or smacking you on the head when you said something stupid. Whenever you'd get close he'd get all red and turn away, but you'd always assumed it was because he didn't like it.

The two of you stood outside of the school, rain pounding down outside with no other option than to stay inside together until either you found an umbrella or the rain decided to stop. You started to start up a conversation with him again, but something seemed different about him today. He seemed quieter, more nervous, less mean. There could have been any other possibility in the world on what was going on in his head, but as you asked him to spit out what was in his mind, you would have never suspected for him of all people to CONFESS to you.

"Dumbass," he scoffed, blushing furiously when you looked at him in disbelief. “You’re so annoying and you drive me insane but still I want to be near you and just...I don't know. I love you, you idiot. Deal with it."

You thought back to all the love notes you found in your locker, each detailing how much they wanted to be with you and how much they loved you. The words seemed so passionate, you would've never suspected it was Jade who wrote them for you. Your secret admirer, the one who knocked you on the back of your head and glared at you, was him!? There was a beat of silence between the two of you as you stared, Jade just blushing furiously. He assumed that this was a rejection, and he tried to blink back the tears that pricked at his eyes. Damn it. Maybe he should’ve stayed quiet.
