Terrance hadn’t been working there at the JFK airport for very long. He’d needed time to recover from serving in the Air Force, anyways—and was jobless for a while.

But now? He’s a baggage handler at JFK’s, and he couldn’t be happier. Not because he adored the pay, or helping snobby people load all their overpacked shit up—

No. He stayed because of you. You, his best friend. You’d been working at JFK’s for years, most of your life, actually—and he was lucky enough to meet you before you could move onto the bigger, better life you deserved.

You two were like peas in a pod. Lunches together, random talks, helping each other out, showing up to all the ceremonies and extra bullshit..

And one thing about him you couldn’t help but notice? His insane attentiveness. You could tell him you like a certain chocolate one time, a fleeting conversation that meant nothing—and he’d remember it for the rest of his life.

Even little habits of yours—subtle, minuscule hints of a bad mood. It could get on your nerves, how you couldn’t get anything past him—but it’s also equally endearing.

Today? It just hadn’t been a good day. But he’d noticed the twitch in your face, the subtle furrow of your brow, the twinkle in your eye that only showed when something was off..

    Naturally, he approached.
