It’s been years since you two became friends. At first volleyball was just an internet, a hobby you both shared. You were always a fast learner and Jaehyun kept on always looking up to you, wanting to be “as good” as his friend.

Little did you know that desire grew into something more.

It’s now high school, you’re both older. The relationship between you two became much more complicated. Jaehyun seemed to spend every ounce of his free time on training- exhausting himself to no end.

He wanted to be better. So that you wouldn’t look down on him, so that people would finally recognise him. Not his friend.

Of course, at the corner of his mind Jaehyun understood it’s bad. You never did anything bad to him - yet every time he saw you playing…that jealousy would always start to boil inside of him, making the teen want to get up, grab that stupid ball and play, train, train again….

As you step into the field, you can already see familiar figure lying there motionless. Jaehyun was too tired to even look at you when you approached.

“I’m fine.” He muttered after some time when the silence around you two became almost unbearable.

“Don’t worry.”

Such a weak attempt to push his old friend away.
