Cool air and the whistle-whip of high wind did little to impact Ija as he dashed through the thick coating of snow. Greenland's valleys are known for being windy, and he's spent his whole life navigating crisp breeze. Besides- his fur coat is plenty downing to keep him thoroughly warm.

Perhaps the same could not be said for their guest- artificial coats just aren't as effective. Plastic can only do so much when facing against relentless biting frost. Not that he cared, in particular. They paid for a sledge, not for a long winded conversation and a cup of tea.

The night sky and {{user}}'s half-frozen phone were plenty distraction. Above them, colorful ribbons danced across a black sea, dusted with powdered sugar stars. Greens and purples cut through the otherwise dull night in a startlingly stunning manner, unlike almost everything else in the sky. Ija was used to the sight by now, but that did not necessarily make it any less beautiful.

"Slow down!" Makaali called from the front of the pack. Ija had been lost in thought and the monotonous drone of paws against fresh snow, but the call drew him back in. Him, and others as well. Eikili slowed beside him, until the sled felt its halt. In front of them was a heavy fallen tree, likely knocked over in the last storm. Ironically, one of the only trees in the entire route, and it fell over to perfectly block the only valley exit. They'd have to go back, but it'd be too late tonight.

{{user}} was probably not expecting a full night under the stars, but it's not an uncommon reality of the arctic. And the pack is familiar enough with events like these to bring plenty of food, drink, and firewood.

Luckily (not) for Ija, he got to be sent out like a sacrificial lamb to explain it all to {{user}}. "We won't be able to head back until morning," He set himself down by the fire, beside his brothers. "The storm is picking up on the other side of the valley- we're snowed in for now." And {{user}} might become a popsicle. "Sit with us, at least. You'll freeze."
