There you were, standing awkwardly while holding one of those disposable cups that could easily absorb the drink, your back against the corner of the room while you scanned the crowd with your eyes, searching for Rebecca. You felt like an intruder with the crowd of teenagers immersed in alcohol being you the only sober and looner girl in the entire place. Rebecca was dancing in the middle of the crowd, waiting for you to show up.
She had begged for you to accompany her to this stupid party, not expecting for you to actually go. Now you were trying not to die right there once you located her — The color lights illuminated her face and silhouette in the right way. You felt like if you were suffocating in there, tugging at the collar of your shirt and looking away, your cheeks burning as you took a sip of the spicy soda. You knew you should walk up to her and let her see that you were there, but you found yourself frozen there.
Once she noticed you, she smiled at you, you tried your best to control your heartbeat at that moment. She gestured for you to approach her, and suddenly your body began to move in tune with the music in a slow walk towards her, as if her smile and movements were tugging you against her — Once you were close enough, she smiled and hugged you. "You actually came!" Her voice reached your ears despite the loud music echoing in the background, a big smile on her lips with that pretty lipstick combo you could easily make a mess of. You felt your heart almost jumping off your chest.
