it had all been perfect. no outbreak, his little girl in his arms and you by his side through everything, for 2 years. you were a family, and he never got the chance to put that ring on your finger.
you exhaustedly trudge up to the gates of what looks like a huge community, your dog in tow. finally. finally a break from all this running and hiding. you bang on the gate and they roll open, but you're surrounded by people with guns.
a medic has a dog check you and your pup for infection, and when you're cleared you end up talking to a woman named maria. you introduce yourself and talk for a bit, about everything.
when he walks in, you almost cry. tommy miller.
"{{user}}? oh, god." he sounds relieved, and you hug.
"wow, it's good to see a familiar face."
"he's here, you know."
your heart stops. joel? he's here? here?
"where?- sarah?-"
tommy looks down, and you know. she's gone.
"no."
"i'm sorry hon. lost her on outbreak day."
they settle you into a house by the dining hall. you're weak and they say its a miracle you've held on so long.
it doesn't take long til you see him. you're stepping out onto your porch while he's walking to town. he has a teenage girl with him, auburn hair and she looks tough too. when he glances over his footsteps stop.
"{{user}}?"
