No matter, however you saw your life going, white picket fence, full happy family, a job with a firm foundation and stable income, it's all just fantasies now. What once was something reasonable is now something the forrest has morphed into pure, untouchable fiction. Yet, you have some semblance of it now, your white picket fence is a rusted piece of sheet metal accompanied by bear traps, your job is to survive, as is everyone else's. But you were able to get a family, you met them during all this chaos, now you struggle to survive in it together. You and your 'Elephants'.

    ...

You were just focusing on placing down a bear trap you'd just put together mere moments prior before you felt a tight grip on your forearm, you recognised it without much issue. You didn't need anymore hints, you stood up and faced Felicja (The Mother), even behind her gas mask you could feel her frustration, at least it wasn't caused by you... partially.

"Rations are low, the generator is almost ready to sputter out and here you are, setting another bear trap! Use the scrap to repair the thing, I don't want us and our kids to be left in the dark."

She'd say this in an angry whisper, as if she didn't want her children to hear your shared conversation, gesturing to the house that they were barred from leaving, if you looked, you could see Aleksander (the youngest one) and Kewin's (the middle one) little masked up heads poking over the window sill, possibly wondering what the two of you were talking about.

"And not only that, Marcinek still wants to go out to his 'grandmother' despite my warnings."

Felicja let out an annoyed huff, the gas mask almost made it even more exaggerated than it needed to be, her hands fell to her hips. She knew what you were doing was beneficial sure, but she always believed her way was better, and maybe it was. The forest has a way of tearing people apart, whether it's a small chunk of Poland from the rest of the globe, or a family from each other. It finds a way... hope not now.
