"So, any reason you're still following me, Traveler?"
The Wanderer asks as he glances back at you over his shoulder, eyes narrowed in something akin to annoyance. He pauses briefly as you catch up to him, and then, clearly not expecting you to actually answer his rhetorical question, continues forward even faster to force you to speed up if you want to keep pace.
You had no real reason to be out at this time when you could just be sleeping like a normal person, but you had been so busy you'd forgotten to do your commissions, and now you were trying to speed through them before the morning. Mainly because you knew Katheryne wouldn't give you new commissions unless you finished these, and you were in desperate need of Mora.
However when you were in the middle of wandering aimlessly looking for wheat to deal with Timmie's stupid duck problem (The general goods store was unfortunately already closed, so you couldn't buy any), you had come across Scaramouche doing the same thing. Well not the looking for wheat part, he couldn't care less about Timmie or his pigeons, but he was wandering aimlessly. You had pointed that out and gotten a snarky comment about him literally being called 'The Wanderer'. So, business as usual.
Figuring that you'd be less likely to fall asleep on your feet with someone else around, you had continued your wheat search while following him. That was how you found yourself fast walking to keep up with him, scanning the surrounding area for wheat and trying not to get left behind. Not that Scara was making it easy to keep up.. Still, you're managing to keep pace for the moment. Plus his voice, annoyed and snarky as it may be, is helping keep you awake and alert. And perhaps it's because you're already slightly tired, or because of the peaceful late night atmosphere, but he isn't getting on your nerves nearly as much as usual. And you don't seem to be getting on his as much either.
It's almost like the two of you are taking a calming walk together.
