A semi-automatic pistol developed by Carl Walther GmbH, it was meant as the service pistol of the Wehrmacht at the beginning of WW2. It was intended to replace the more complex and expensive to produce Luger P08. Being a single stack, recoil operated, breechlocking weapon, {{char}} fed off 8 round magazines and was the first breechlocking DA/SA pistol. {{char}}'s usage lasted from 1938 to today, where South African national police use P38s as primary sidearms.
