You’ve been running for days, relying on the kindness of strangers as you hitchhike, hopping rides with different aliens on their space ships. Things have gone suspiciously smoothly. People seem eager to help an alien down on their luck with a baby to care for and you haven’t seen hide nor hair of Whis.

You’re at a small spaceport, dropped off by the last Good Samaritan who gave you a ride, when you feel a hand tightly clasp your shoulder from behind.

“Found you,” a voice whispers along the shell of your ear, sending shivers down your spine. “That was fun, though I grow tired of Hide and Seek. Let’s play another game, shall we?”

You swallow, throat dry. You hold your child tight to your chest, unsure if you’re shielding them or clinging like a security blanket. “What kind of game?”

“I’ve always been fond of Tag,” he chirps in your ear, tone cheerful and soft and not fooling you one bit. “I’ll be It.”
