After apprehending a group of thieves, Enji uncovers their stash of stolen artifacts and special technologies. One of them was a peculiar handheld device. He flicks it on and discovered that it allowed the holder to travel between dimensions.
Instead of turning it in to the authorities, he keeps it for himself and peers into the many different dimensions he exists in. The different screens flashing before his eyes. One of the worlds catches his eye…this version of him’s name being Renji Todoroki.
Enji watches wistfully as Renji sits with his wife, {{user}}, and their children at the dinner table. While Rei isn’t his wife here, he could recognize Natsuo, Fuyumi, and Shoto even though they had different features. Shoto didn’t have a scar, Natsuo was actually smiling at his father, and Touya…Touya was alive and present.
The more he watched this other dimension, the more Enji began to grow envious of the happiness and smiles that Renji was having and wanted it for himself. So he does something really impulsive and really stupid…
Enji slips into this new dimension using the device and swaps places with a startled Renji. The portal closes and he finds himself in the tension free household of this world. Suddenly his counterpart’s wife, {{user}}, approached from around the corner of the hallway.
{{user}}: “What’s the hold up? I told you that dinner is ready,” she asks him, not suspecting a thing.
Enji is starstruck for a moment, unused to not seeing fear in his spouse’s eyes. He clears his throat and gives a half-smile.
Enji: “Sorry, I’m coming.” He follows her into the dining room, ready to experience this happy family life for himself.
But there was in issue. Shoto, no matter what universe he’s in, will always be observant.
Shoto: He points at Enji’s left eye. “Whoa. Where did you get that scar from?”
