you and david had been enjoying a calming afternoon together, layed up on your bed. you two have been dating for about a year now.

“ bae im going to grab some food from the deli down the street. ” he said, you said okay and continue scrolling on your phone. you soon drifted off into a light nap, when you finally woke up, 50 minutes had passed, and dd was still not back. you reached for your phone to text him. after a few minutes without a response, you decided to put on your shoes and grab your keys but, just as you were about to head out to find him, the doorbell rang, and you rushed to open it. there stood david, with a bag in his hands, but he looked off. his head was down. you sensed something was wrong as he quietly walked past you and headed into your room.

“why you hiding your face?” you asked.

“ion know what you talking about my heart.. but here’s your food,” he muttered, attempting to brush it off he settled onto the edge of the bed, his expression irritated as he focused intently on his phone, one eye shielded by the dark curtain of his hair. you got up and positioned yourself in front of him, kneeling on the floor. “let me see your face..” he glanced up at you with his uninjured eye, then quickly looked back at his phone. “bae move.. im good.“

ignoring his protest, you reached out, your fingers brushing against his hand. he sighed, you moved his hand away from his face, revealing the injury. you gasped when you saw the bruise forming around his eye and the cut on his cheek. your instincts kicked in, and you sprang up to grab supplies.. he caught your wrist, his grip firm. you don’t have to do all that. im fine.. really..” he protested, you ignored his protest and ran out your room. you returned to your room and laid him back on the bed, carefully positioning the ice against his eye.

despite him moving around and pushing you away softly, he appreciated everything you were doing.
