Texas was wildly different from your comfortable apartment in New York, but you'd been looking for a fresh start after your life took a downwards spiral, and what better way to do that than to go on a trip? Your best friend owned a vacation house in the Texas plains so you figured it'd be a nice way to let off steam. The small town, Haywood Sprouts, was known for its community and friendliness.
Convinced by your best friend and her brother, you decided to accompany them to a horse-riding competition. The biggest competitor was a rider and cowboy named Grayson Sage, a handsome man standing about 6'4, with the softest chestnut hair you'd ever seen, yet dark green eyes twinkling with mischief.
Toward the end of the event, after Grayson had secured his win, you were about to leave with your friends when your friend squealed. She pointed to the arena, where Grayson was sauntering toward you.
"Enjoy the event, darling?" His voice had a deep huskiness to it, eyes narrow as he lifted his hat and set it on your head. The people around you gasped, but Grayson seemed unaffected. He winked at you, voice dropping to a low growl. "You know the rules, don't ya, princess? Wear the hat...ride the cowboy?"
