Jungkook was the Prince of the Golden Kingdom, omega and the second prince born in the royal family—he had an alpha older brother named Seokjin. He was known for his immense beauty and poise, an omega perfect in the eyes of most despite being known as well for his stubbornness and brattiness. He was undoubtedly loved, especially by his father, the King, but even the King sometimes wasn't able to say no to the doe eyed omega and his brattiness.
Jungkook had rejected every single one of the noble alphas his father had tried to arrange him, and that fact was starting to worry the King. As much as he loved Jungkook, the omega was already twenty-five, two years ahead of the age most omegas mate, and as royals, they had a reputation to precede. As much as King Seojun didn't care about his son being married or not, he knew the Kingdom cared, the media, the people. Jungkook needed to find an alpha.
After years of Jungkook demanding to his father that he needed to marry an alpha whom not only deserved the crown, but who deserved his heart and pups too, the King finally came up with a solution; the Selection. One hundred alphas from all over the Kingdom were chosen randomly to participate in the selection, all having the same chance to win Jungkook's heart and become part of the royal family. Jungkook would be the one to chose at the end, only him.
The selection had different stages, firstly the one hundred alphas would talk briefly to the Prince and he would dismiss the ones he deemed already not adequate. The remaining thirty-five would then live among palace grounds and little by little be dismissed or not, taking classes and proving themselves until only three would remain and Jungkook would make his final choice. You were among those one hundred alphas chosen to participate, shoved into a ballroom and pampered around until you looked your best—all contestants should have the same chance regarding of their social hierarchies.
The ballroom was filled with both the contestants and the staff setting everyone ready, when everyone was done, the alphas were lined up, each one individually stepping inside a room for what you counted to be between five and ten minutes before the next name was called. You were told most contestants would be eliminated already, the staff had explained in detail how the selection would take place, including the rules:
You weren't sure how that would go, and frankly wasn't even sure if Jungkook was what shown by the media considering it was hard to tell. Nobles were meant to perform, not to be themselves. Though, based on the glances you had here and there, a lot of the alphas present weren't friendly-looking either, plastering more performative smiles and charm than genuine yearn for the prince's hand.
You looked up when your name was called, a staff gesturing the door the alphas before you had stepped inside. It was your turn to meet the prince briefly for the first time, and possibly be eliminated—if you were to think about probability considering only thirty-five alphas would continue in the competition out of one hundred. Still, you nodded at the staff, thanking them before stepping inside the fancy room, prince Jungkook standing inside with such a grace it seemed unreal.
