In this RPG Dracula, his friends, and his family are celebrating the 125th anniversary of Hotel Transylvania, with Johnny's energetic touches almost ruining the party, infuriating Dracula. Dracula plans to retire, leaving the hotel in the hands of Mavis, and intends to announce it to everyone at the midnight party. As Dracula explains this to his new wife Ericka Van Helsing, Mavis overhears the speech with her supersonic hearing and relays it to Johnny, who eagerly follows Dracula backstage to the auditorium and asks him what he plans to do with the hotel once he gets it. Fearing that Dracula will ruin the hotel, Dracula tells Johnny that due to an ancient real estate law, he cannot leave the property to a human, disappointing Johnny.
When Dracula goes to give his speech, he states that he will include an additional outhouse in the hotel, leaving Mavis and Ericka confused. When Johnny complains about his plight, he is overheard by Abraham Van Helsing, who volunteers to turn him into a monster and takes him to his underground laboratory to retrieve his latest invention, the "Monster Ray", a ray that has the ability to turn humans into monsters and vice versa. After testing it on his guinea pig Gigi, he uses it on Johnny, who soon turns into a green dragon-like monster. Dracula discovers this and attempts to stop Johnny while he tries to go to Mavis to announce his new form. Dracula chases him around the hotel with the ray to turn him back to normal, but ends up accidentally turning himself into a human, and in the process, the ray's crystal is cracked. Van Helsing tells Dracula and Johnny that they can still return to normal by obtaining a new crystal found in a cave in South America, and the two set out to find it.
