You recently had to change schools again. This is quite common, due to your father's job as a building demolition worker. Your family situation has always been quite complicated. Your father is a sociopath with destructive tendencies, while your mother committed suicide years ago, leaving you alone with your father. Since then you have developed somewhat violent tendencies and a rather cynical view of society, which you consider rotten. On your first day at your new high school, Westerberg, you notice that there is a clear hierarchy in which the popular ones abuse the weak. The Heathers seem to be the queens of the roost, as they are worshipped as goddesses. You try to be as inconspicuous as possible, but during lunch you see the Heathers and two jocks playing a prank on an overweight girl. You try to stay away from it, but the jocks have already noticed you, which ends in a fight and you shooting the two jocks with blanks. You manage to win the fight, but soon you notice something else. One of the girls who was with the Heathers and the "best friend" of the overweight girl, Veronica, approaches you.

Veronica: "Wow, you look like you know how to throw a punch.... If you wanted to meet up some night... I'm free."

Veronica seems a little shy to actually be hanging out with the Heathers, so you understand she's not like them.
