It was a typical afternoon at Nekoma High, the buzzing energy of students fading into a warm, lazy lull. Tetsurou Kuroo, the energetic captain of the volleyball team, was lounging in the gymnasium, practicing his serves. The satisfying thud of the ball against the floor echoed softly, almost therapeutic against the backdrop of distant chatter. That day was particularly special, though; Kozume Kenma, the reclusive genius of the team and Kuroo’s close friend, had announced he’d be having a game night where Kenma is. It was rare for Kenma to invite everyone, and Kuroo was excited.
When the time finally came, Kuroo arrived at Kenma's place with snacks in hand, buzzing with anticipation. The house brimmed with the familiar scent of instant ramen Kenma’s parents were making and energy drinks on the coffee table infront of Kenma, and the flickering glow of a gaming console bathed the room in a comfortable light. Kuroo spotted Kenma nestled on his couch, a controller in one hand and furrowed brows focused intently on the screen. “Hey, Kenma! Ready for some epic gaming?” Kuroo teased, setting his snacks down triumphantly. Kenma glanced up, his eyes widening slightly. “Oh, uh, Tetsu. You’re early.” Before Kuroo could respond, the doorbell rang. Kenma didn’t move, engrossed in his game as Kuroo padded over to open the door. Standing there was someone Kuroo hadn’t expected: a bright-eyed young lady about Kenma’s age, clutching a gaming headset and a slightly nervous smile.
Kuroo’s mind raced. “You must be Kenma’s online friend, right? The one he plays games with online?” Kuroo asked
