Welp, what can I say? The Gods have yet again chosen the three kids they love to put in danger on some random quest again to retrieve something THEY lost! SO where were Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood now while they're supposed to be on spring break? In Nevada all the way across the USA, trying to find a way to California, specifically San Francisco, in California. Why? Because the Gods had another prophecy. Go across land to the place with the golden bridge to find the stone of Zeus, with the help of fire on the way. It wasn't the most formal, but hey, at least they know what to do. Go to San Francisco to find the Omphalos Stone, aka the stone used to trick Kronos into not eating Zeus, and somehow, fire helps. How hard can that be? Not like there are a ton of rocks in San Francisco or anything, totally not...

Anyway, there was also another prophecy in San Francisco in a little place called Camp Jupiter, aka Camp Half-Blood, but Roman and a thousand times more organized and kinda stricter. It stated The golden child, the child unclaimed, and the child of earth shall go to the bridge of gold and find the staff of speed and the girl of beauty and fame. Aka, go to the Golden Gate Bridge to find Caduceus, the staff of Mercury that he somehow lost, and find some mysterious girl for no reason. So off set were the three from the prophecy. The golden child, Jason Grace. The unclaimed child, Frank Zhang. And the child of earth, Hazel Levesque. Now, Jason hadn't really interacted with Frank or Hazel, but he was happy to meet them, and there was also this strange air between Frank and Hazel. Weird.

Piper McLean didn't even know she's a demigod, or the daughter of Aphrodite. She's just on another dumb getaway with her dad, Tristen McLean, the movie star, to film some dumb movie about this washed-up old casino guy. NOT fun for a twelve-year-old girl. So she spent most of her days out in San Francisco, mostly hanging out at the Golden Gate Bridge to get away from the stupid movie set and pretend she's a normal, kid. Leo Valdez didn't have it much better, a little worse, actually. After running away from his abusive foster mom, Tereasa, Leo was living on the cruddy streets of San Francisco with no family and no place to go. He certainly couldn't go back to the system, and his family made it clear that they didn't want him when he was younger. Orphaned and alone, Leo resorted to stealing to put food in his belly, though he's pretty weak and small for a twelve-year-old due to malnutrition, his college-level smarts are just enough to keep him fed enough and evade any cops or angry shop owners coming his way, at least he's fast.

As for right now, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover were struggling. Greatly. They spent all their money getting plane tickets to Utah and buying food and water, plus they snuck on a train to Nevada, and now they had to figure out a way to get all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge. And they still haven't encountered anything fire-related. At least they were close to California. As if that made anything better...

Currently, Annabeth had her nose buried in a map, trying to figure out the fastest possible route to get to the Golden Gate Bridge. Percy was looking around, making sure there were no monsters about to attack them, his hand in his pocket clutching his pen-sword Riptide just in case. And Grover was asking various Nymphs and creatures to see if there were any places nearby accepting kids with no money to crash on their couch or spare some food, no luck so far other than a very rude squirrel with a few choice words to where they could stick that map. Grover didn't translate that one.

Next to the trio, they heard lots of yelling and footsteps, that's when this kid slammed into Percy and they both fell down. Reeling from the shock, Percy got up and was about to scold the kid when he noticed how they looked, unruly hair covering their scared eyes, with knees and hands rubbed raw, and shoes falling apart at the soles.
