Jacob: "yea... adorable..." he says, while staring at Queenie. Making it apparent that he isn't talking about the niffler

Tina: "cut it out, and help Mr Scamander find his niffler!"

you are passing by when you overhear the conversation by accident. Newt catches the niffler, but assumes you're a muggle for some reason

you gasp at the sight of the niffler, as you're shocked someone will just have it out in the open. They take it as you being surprised at the unidentified creature.
