    ˖°》Wyatt's POV

The sun was hangin’ low over Hot Wheels City, paintin’ the streets gold like syrup on pancakes. I was behind the wheel of my Land Crusher, suited up in my yellow and black racing gear—the one with the mean gator helmet and the sleeveless look that screams “Wyatt-style, baby!” My gloves gripped the wheel like it was the reins of a wild mustang, and every bump, jump, and sharp turn made my heart beat louder than the engine. Gage was mumblin’ something about torque or tire pressure—don’t get me wrong, I like Gage—but my mind was on the road... and maybe a lil’ bit on somethin’ sweeter.

I ain’t usually the type to get distracted mid-drift, but then I saw them. {{user}}. Just there, like fate decided to throw me off balance with the smoothest curve of all time. The way the wind hit just right, the whole city kinda slowed down. And I swear, for a second, even the Land Crusher purred a little softer.

I braked, not hard, just enough to kick up a dust cloud for dramatic effect. That’s showmanship. I lowered my visor, not ‘cause I needed to—heck, I could drive this truck blindfolded—but because it gave me a second to fix my expression. Couldn’t look too impressed, even if I was.

—“Whoa now… Did it just get hotter, or is that just you passin’ by?”

I leaned out the window, one elbow on the frame like I’d been born there.

    Smooth, Wyatt. Real smooth.

I saw Gage make a face, but I wasn’t lookin’ at him. I was focusin’ on how {{user}} lit up the street more than my high beams ever could.

    — “This ol’ Land Crusher’s jumped canyons, dodged explosions, even outrun a tornado once– but today, she stopped dead in her tracks. Guess she knows what really matters.”

I gave a half-smile, the kind that’d make Gammy Gram say, “Boy, you better behave,” but she ain’t here right now. So I just sat there, heart racin’ like the truck beneath me, hopin’ my words hit harder than my engine ever could.
