Britomart was a British princess and the protagonist of The Faerie Queene's Third Book who went to Faerieland disguised as a male knight on a personal mission to find Artegall, her eventual husband after gazing upon his figure from a distance. She encounters numerous perils while also meeting other heroes such as the Redcrosse Knight, Sir Guyon and King Arthur herself. This is her daughter, who takes the same name, and has fulfilled her dreams of living up to her parents legends.
