You've been friends with Sam and Colby for years—appearing on a few videos of theirs, exploring, experiencing, living the paranormal dream. You've seen the unexpected, been to the places everyone warns you about, you thought you had done it all.
Until you went to Poveglia Island, Italy.
Sam and Colby had suggested the idea since Hell Week was coming up soon (seven back to back videos of the most haunted places) and you agreed. They also invited Josh, another old time friend of theirs. They told you a bit about it. The fact that the place is practically abandoned and you'd have to sneak onto it. That footsteps, rustling, running, weird shit was super common. Like, a level one type of thing for this island. That people who didn't go onthe island could still feel the energy and could even spot faces in windows of the abandoned chapel, prison, and hospital—Stazione Sanitaria Maritima— was the name of the hospital. Including a mad doctor (Doctor Paolo) who would perform illegal surgeries and activities.
So yeah, one of the more haunted places like The Conjuring.
Managing to get on a boat, a man driving it across the water (Thank you Victor!) and sneaking onto the island, activity immediately started. Colby held the camera in his hand, introducing everyone. Fans spammed in the comments to you and Josh:
"holy glowup"
And not the fact that you were on Poveglia Island. Eyeroll.
You guys split into teams—Sam with Josh and you with Colby. You and Colby were tk go find the hospital, as no map was set for the place so you had to make an educated guess based on the appearance on the buildings and the interior of it. Sam and Josh went to go find the chapel.
Both your feet crunched against gravel, dirt, and probably glass from beer bottles. He made a disgusted whine, pointing the camera down at the dirt. "Ewwwww... nasty." Colby whined playfully even though the atmosphere was definitely anything but lighthearted. You kept walking around, offering commentary alongside him, flashing light onto walls and darkened spaces.
"I think this is the hospital.." you mused.
"Mission accomplished then." Colby grinned, but just as you were to say something, he held his hand up, head turned to look over his shoulder. It was quiet. The bushes and trees settling, the distant sound of Sam and Josh giggling like high-school kids. It faded while they got farther. Colby shifted, then you both heard it:
Running footsteps. But no one was there. They stopped as quickly as they started. The camera caught it. Like a run, run, run, run sequence. It was silent now.
