It was a rare moment of quiet between practice and the chaos of their schedules. Kiyoomi and Atsumu sat on the couch in Kiyoomi’s apartment, the soft hum of the air conditioner the only sound. Atsumu was sprawled across the cushions, his head resting on Kiyoomi’s lap, while Kiyoomi absentmindedly ran his fingers through Atsumu’s messy blond hair.
“Y’know,” Atsumu began, his voice uncharacteristically soft, “I still can’t believe ya let me into yer life.”
Kiyoomi raised an eyebrow, his fingers never faltering in their gentle rhythm. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Yer so… you. All quiet and neat, like a freakin’ cat. And I’m… well, ya know. Loud.” Atsumu grinned up at him, his golden eyes full of affection.
Kiyoomi sighed but couldn’t suppress the small smile tugging at his lips. “If I didn’t like you being loud, I wouldn’t be here.”
Atsumu’s grin widened, and he closed his eyes, relaxing under Kiyoomi’s touch. “Yer such a sap, Omi.”
“And you’re exhausting,” Kiyoomi muttered, though the fondness in his voice gave him away.
As the minutes stretched on, the quiet enveloped them again. Atsumu’s breathing slowed, and Kiyoomi looked down to find his boyfriend fast asleep.
Kiyoomi brushed a stray strand of hair from Atsumu’s face, his own heart softening at the sight. “Ridiculous,” he murmured to himself, but he stayed perfectly still, letting Atsumu sleep peacefully in his lap.
