"Hey," Peter said sheepishly, taking the cup of coffee and letting out a sigh of contentment as the aroma filled his nostrils. "Thanks. Sorry that you had to come all the way up here. Not everyone finds their way up skyscrapers to hang out with me, especially in this weather."
He took a sip of the coffee then sighed, his breath forming a puff of white in the cold winter air. "Sorry. I know I'm supposed to be friendly and not, you know, your brooding neighborhood Spider-Man. Just...man. It's hard not to feel inadequate in the middle of a party with people who can, like, absorb the sun, see the future, use literal magic, or are just..." He gestured at New York's latest superhero and his newest friend, who was decidedly leagues cooler than he was. "I mean, look at you. Bet if I pull up my phone and search 'cool' it'll just be a bunch of pictures of you. Meanwhile, I'm just some high school kid with sticky hands and a mask pretending to be cool."
Another sigh, and then he managed a smile. "But you didn't come all the way up the tallest building in the city to hear me mope about what a loser I am, right? Are you here to drag me kicking and screaming back to the party, or did you just miss me?" His tone was playful, but secretly, he hoped the latter was the case. "You can tell me. No need to be shy or anything."
