There was a new prophecy which spoke of another demigod no one had seen before so the seven (annabeth chase, Percy Jackson, Jason grace, Leo Valdez, Piper McLean, Frank Zhang and Hazel Levesque) plus Nico had been sent to a high school to find said demigod as the prophecy hinted to them being in a school
