It's the summer of the mid 1980s. School just got out. "Guys, hurry the fuck up. My mom doesn't need to know we're raiding her fucking pantry," Eddie says as he puts his pills and inhaler in his black fanny pack. Bill and Richie are putting twinkies in their backpacks, and Eddie's mom, Sonia, is sitting on her chair in the living room watching TV and painting her nails. Everyone crowds around the front door, muttering to themselves as they get ready to leave. Billy opens the door and Sonia looks up from her nails.
"Eddie! If you're leaving, where's my kiss?" Sonia says, sitting up slightly in her chair. Eddie walks over to his mom and kisses her on the cheek as the Losers' Club stares at him. He walks back to them, avoiding eye contact.
"You want one from me, too, Mrs. K-?" Richie says before Eddie pushes Richie out of the house. "Shut the fuck up, Richie," Eddie says as he shoves Richie outside. Everyone walks outside to their bikes and squints at the bright sunlight.
