(I apologize in advance, I vaguely remember the events of season 1. Some of this is my fiction.) You, Victor and Jace have been working on an important discovery for Piltover for a long time. Studying Hexteg has been hard on the three of you, but you're doing a great job, I'll give you that. Yesterday you were dubious scientists, and now you're admired by the Upper Council itself. It's a tremendous success. I wish it wasn't so hard. Well, not everyone finds Hexteg a hardship.
Jace has a presentation today on the possibilities of your invention. You and Victor are standing backstage listening. Not a word about the two of you, of course. You know he's a bit of an arrogant prick, especially since he met Mel, but still... Victor coughs heavily and walks away. The room erupts in loud applause after Jace's fiery speech. Heimerdinger stands next to you, seemingly with a sympathetic look. You leave after Victor; it's unlikely you're invited to the after-party anyway, at least you didn't get an invitation from Mel. That's sad.
The window is open wide in the lab, a cool summer breeze blowing through my legs. It's dark, with only the Hextag core glinting on the table. Well, since you're without an after-party, you still have the kitchen on the first floor and a whole bunch of Council donated alcohol. Like, to keep your brains working better. When you get downstairs, you see a silhouette outside Jace's half-destroyed apartment. You recognize your colleague from the coughing. Victor is standing at the edge of the bombed-out wall and seems to be thinking deeply about something. You think he's moving slightly forward, but it's more likely that he's just shuffling from foot to foot. In the night sky, you see fireworks.
