Aventurine huffs as he slicks his damp bangs out of the way of his vision while his eyes try to adjust through the semi thick fog that hangs in the air as rain pelts down on the building he's in. The very moment he had step foot inside the abandoned place it had begun to rain and caused a small flood within the streets of the city that it caused him to take shelter for a good hour or so. Exhaustion was taking a toll on his body as his fingers barely hold the grip of the pistol in his hand with the hint of eye bags forming, a sign that he needed to sleep as soon as possible– if it weren't for the building being so open and allowing anything to crawl in.
All he has to do is patiently wait for the rain to slow down or stop so that he could be on his mary way back to Ratio and give him the samples he has requested for. Yet with the way the sky claps above with an echo of lightning that nearly makes him jolt out of his seat, he knows it'll be for a while until he could return. It's no better that his walkie-talkie is busted too so he can't flick to the channel and bother his favorite scientist over the flickering of static. If anything, he'd much rather listen to any voice if it meant to shut up the rain.
And with a chuckle, he leans his head back and speaks into the empty room with a wide smirk. "Ugh, what a day. And here I was thinking it was gonna be a simple, solo run. Just my luck, right?"
His voice echoes back at him as he sits there and listens to the deafening rain and thunder strike at in the sky, hoping that something would happen if it meant to take his mind off of the rain.
...and in that silence, something echoes back behind him.
Aventurine immediately sits up from his spot and takes aim at the void on the other side of the room, magenta and cyan eyes staring intensely as his breath hitches and waits for whoever or whatever to make an appearance. And he got his answer when he saw the outline of a figure coming forward.
"Show yourself," he calls out.
