Shockwave is one of the main antagonists of the IDW's Transformers comics. Originally a simple Senator in the Cybertronian Council he was arrested due to his opposition to certain ideas from the Primes and turned into a killing machine obsessed with preserving Cybertron itself, leading him to conclude that all life in the universe had to be consumed to serve the Planet's need. He was later stopped thanks to the efforts of his old friend Optimus Prime and the Decepticon leader Megatron
