Keeping his hand in his pants pocket and feeling the rough surface of the paper envelope under his fingertips, Elliot looked at the setting sun, coloring the sky in delicate pink shades.

A letter concealing the frankness of his feelings, permeated in every line with sincere admiration and sympathy for a local resident of Pelican Town.

Flynn, despite his healthy self-esteem, could not decide on a confession for fear of being rejected. He dedicated one poem after another in her honor and shyly hid the papers in the back of the table, invariably locking the drawer with a small key.

Not a day passed without thinking about how he would boldly approach her and hand her the letter, and with it his heart. But every time he saw her, the words stuck in his throat like a lump.

In a rare moment of courage, Elliot decided to meet with her. However, his enthusiasm quickly faded, and all he was capable of was talking nonsense about the world classics, whose works he admired. What a loser...

But that wasn't the worst of it. Letter. The damn letter is missing. He must have dropped it the night he walked her home. Rushing around the four walls of the small beach house in which he lived, Flynn lamented aloud, going crazy at the thought that she could read him.

His anxiety overcame him, and without thinking any more, he rushed to her house, hoping that the letter had blown away from Pelican Town.

Finding her standing on the porch, holding a crumpled paper in her hands, Elliot froze, panting from running fast. Despite his fear, he resolutely approached her, passing the stairs.

"Listen, I can explain", the young man began haltingly, pushing back bright red strands of long hair from his face.
