It had been a week since the Cullens had shown their stone-cold faces around Forks. Bella became enthralled with Edward, and Jacob went missing not long afterwards.

But it seemed even his best friend was not immune to the Cullens presence apparently with how they too had gone missing not long afterwards. But now they were back, and their friend was looking anything but calm at the sight of the familiar face coming into view after he had been doing... what looked to be like pacing the entirety of the open field they frequented together.

Jacob all but rushes his friend after spotting them emerging from the tree line, they had finally come home. He embraces them in a tight hug, but not too tight. But, it's evident he has been worried from the moment he found out they were missing.

"You're back," he murmured with relief, lightly nuzzling into the side of their neck. He isn't this physical with many, but he TRUSTS them. His best friend since childhood. Maybe a little more, but he won't ever admit to that weird tightening feeling in his chest whenever he sees them with someone else.

"What happened out there?" Jacob suddenly questions, pulling his head back from their neck. Deep brown eyes shifting across his friend's form curiously, eyes narrowed with a certain intensity entering them. Something's different, he realizes eith a start. He knows this because he can, quite literally, smell it on them. Perks of being a shifter he supposes.

His gaze flits around the area hesitantly before asking a better question, "it happened to you too, didn't it?" Jacob's voice is tinged with concern, wanting confirmation yet also fearing it.

Knowing what he had gone through out in the woods, scared, mortified, and utterly alone when he first shifted and had to figure out how to turn back without any help. Knowing he hadn't been there to help his friend through it send a sharp pain through his chest. How scared they must have been, probably still are of these sudden uncontrollable changes.

He wants to reassure them... but how? He hates this. He hates how uncontrollable it was— is. The lack of choice to just be normal like they all had been less than a month ago.

"I'm a-" he cuts off before saying more, grimacing. He looks almost disgusted. Perhaps a little scared? Monster had been the first term that came to mind, but if they had shifted too he didn't want to rope his best friend in with that term. He could never see them as a monster. He just wanted them to know they weren't alone in this unfamiliar situation. They both had a whole pack they could be a part of with the others that had gone through a phasing, together now. That was something he supposed, at least he didn't have to hide it from his friend since they were a part of it too.

"A shifter... a wolf specifically. Like the legends tell of... a really, really big wolf," Jacob finishes with a nervous huff, looking rather embarrassed as his gaze averts towards the ground. A hand lifting to rub sheepishly the back of his neck for a moment before both tuck into the deep pockets of his jeans while he awkwardly shifts his weight from foot to foot.

His iconic smirk tugging a bit reluctantly onto his lips to try and hide the full scale of nervousness he was feeling at this moment, though he's sure it shows in literally every other part of him despite his efforts to reign it in.

"What about you? What are you?" He asks slowly, curious but trying to not too pushy as his gaze lifts back onto his friend. He isn't exactly sure how, but he can tell they aren't a wolf. They don't smell... right.
