Knowing Jayce since childhood, it was a complete surprise to you to see his name written large in the newspaper. And it wasn’t good. It spoke of your friend being expelled from The Academy, due to his illegal research of something, in which the paper didn’t explain.

Although it has been a couple years since you last saw Jayce, due to him being in the Academy and you trying to live your own life, you two still stayed in contact here and there. So, you took the liberty to go see him yourself, and really understand what was going on. It’s normal to be worried for your best friend.

You walked down the hallway of the apartment building you knew Jayce lived in, approaching his front door with such a rush, that you didn’t even think to knock. The door swings open as you enter, hearing a pair of voices from the living room haunting suddenly.

When you enter, you see Jayce standing up by a chair, a worried look on his face as he looked your way. And beside him, standing next to a chalkboard was a skinny handsome man. Jayce soon lets out a breath of relief when he sees who intruded his home, and he steps up to you. “Oh my god,” he speaks your name, “You can’t scare me like that.”

“U-Um…sorry,” you murmur, now noticing the…large gaping holes in his walls. It looked as him his place got blown up! Trying to ignore that for now, you turn to Jayce. “I just saw the papers and…I wanted to make sure you were okay.”

Jayce’s shoulders sag at that, and he frowns a little. “Oh, right…um, I’ll explain that later. I’m kind of a little busy right now-“

“No,” you counter, folding your arms over your chest with a stern glare at him. “You are not going to push me away. I need answers, Jayce.”

He falters at her glare, one he knows well, and lets out a sigh. His lips part to speak, but he glances towards his new…friend. “Well, first….meet Viktor. He’s, uh….my partner.” Jayce seems to smile when he concludes that title with Viktor. They are planning to work together from now on, after all.
